Halloween
party at
Moose...
All area kids are invited
to the annual Halloween
Party at the Nucla Moose
Lodge on Friday night
Oct. 31 from 6 - 8 p.m,
There will be bobbing for
apples, cake walk, face
painting, spook house and
fishing for prizes for the
younger children. The cos-
tume parade will begin at
7:30 and prizes will be giv-
en for best costumes in 4
different age groups. Re-
freshments will be served.
There is no charge for the
evening - so come on to
the Moose, kids, and have
a fun and safe Halloween.

attended the Four Corners
Council meeting held in
Cortez, Colorado on Oct.

Scholarship
applications
for $1,000
due by

High School students
who are interested in ap-
plying for $1,000 college
scholarships should re-
quest applications by Dec.
1, 1986 from Educational
Communications Scholar-
ship Foundation, 721 N.
McKinley Road, Lake
Forest, Illinois 60045. To
receive an application,
students should send a
note stating their name,
address, city, state and zip
code, approximate grade
point average and year of
graduation. Sixty-five win-
ners will be selected on the
basis of academic perform-
ance, involvement in extra-
curricular activities and
need for financial aid.
Turnovers
"1 expected to win go-
ing in but we didn't," said
Norwood Mavericks foot-
ball Coach Bruce Misare
of the 35-0 loss to Bay-
field last Friday. "We just
didn't execute well."
Bayfield never sustain-
ed a drive and scored only
one time by their own ef-
forts. Coach Misare at-
tributed the other scoring
to Maverick turnovers.

Ignacio and Monte Vista
had to cancel out due to
driving conditions. Guests
from Red Mesa, Arizona
were in attendance to ob-
serve and perhaps join at a
later date with the group.
Crocheting
Classes
to begin
October 30
Crocheting class will
start October 30 at the
home of Gerthie Pool,
west of Naturita at 2:00
p.m. The cost of the
Thursday class is $5.00
for six weeks. You can
crochet something for
Christmas. Lots of individ-
ual help. For more infor-
mation call Gerthie at

Your preschooler bor-
ed? ;Bring him or her to
the MWR office every
Monday morning at 10:00
for three year olds and
11:15 for 4 and 5 year
olds. They have fun color-
ing painting and cutting.

The theme of the meeting
was around the Cortez
Centennial Year 1886 to
1986, and a film was
shown on this. Packets
were given out from the
Cortez Chamber of Com-
merce giving many inter-
esting facts and things to
see and do in that area.
Nucla will host the spring
meeting in April - 1987.

At the half Bayfield was
ahead 7-0. An interception
for a touchdown and a
blocked punt for another
TD along with their own
third quarter score along
with the final score, put
Bayfield in the winning
seat.
Norwood drove 85 yard
clown the field to a first
and goal on the three yard
line. An offsides on the
first down and another
penalty on third down
added to the frustration of
not getting in for the
score.
The Mavs face Dove
Creek for the final game of
the season. "If we make
the turnovers, we'll lose.
That's what has hurt us
every game." The Mavs
play the Bulldogs. on Fri-
day night.
