Last month, Oberlin and Dr. Avis Severance, of Agape Family Practice, opened an office in the Nucla Hospital Building on Main Street. Both Severance and Oberlin are well-known names to the West End, as both worked at the Southwest Basin Clinic in recent years. Severance established a Grand Junction based private practice about four years ago, and Oberlin, upon leaving his position at the clinic, has been commuting to Junction four days a week to work for that practice. "I fell in love with the area, I didn't want to move," Oberlin explains. "Both Dr. Severance and I have patients here, and it is hard for them to travel to Grand Junction for their care." Antique rCar Show At Norwood Event The second annual antique car show, sponsored by the Naturita Basin Valley Lion's Club, will be held this August 14, beginning at 9 AM, at the Event Center in Norwood. Admission is $3 for the car show. There is a ten dollar fee for any wishing to show their antique car. Besides featuring many antique cars, there will be a car corral ~vhere many of the vehi- cles will be for sale. The Nucla Lions will hold a Bratwurst lunch and returning this year will also be the popular chili cookoff. You may enter the cookoff for free and sale your chili after the judging, if you wish. The Naturita Basin Valley Lions will be in charge of con- cessions. A dance, featuring the Ghost River Band, will be held from 9 PM to 1 AM. Buttons for the dance admission are 4 dol- lars or 5 dollars at the gate. School Board The Paradox Valley Charter School appointed a 5 member school board on Sunday, July 11, 1999. The new board members are: Ted Swain, President; Steven Redd, Vice President; Laurie Schultz, Secretary; Donna Files, Treasurer; and Jack Lee. The Paradox Valley Charter School is anticipat- ing final contract approval from the West l~nd Public School District this week, and classes at the K-6 grade. school house are expected to begin in early September.
