Last week fireworks were
shot off within the Town of
Naturita. Naturita Deputy Mar-
shal Bill McClellan said all
ftreworks that aren't hand held
are prohibited by a town or-
dinance within the city limits.
A Colorado law passed several
years ago, prohibits the sale
and use of fireworks within the"
State that aren't hand held.
According to the report,
fireworks were sold within the
city limits last week. Reported-
ly, Mayor Wilbur Binder and
three councilmen authorized
the sale of those fireworks.
A report was related to Dep-
uty McClellan of a baby being
injured as a result of exploding
f'treworksllast Saturday night at
the town park. Dr. H. H. Ro-
senzweig confirmed that re-
port. A fragment from fire-
works landed on the infant's
back causing a small bum.
Deputy McClellan said fire-
works will be confiscated upon
apprehending persons with il-
legal fireworks. Those persons
will be subject to prosecution
and possible penalties. Deputy
McClellan said this admonition
also applies to the coming
July 4th week.

The judges chose three
yards as worthy of honorable
mention. They are Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Kelly, Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Hutchins and Mr. and
Mrs. Clark Stowe.
The plaque for the "Yard
of the Month" will be left in
the Wittem's yard until the
next judging, about the mid-
dle of July. This is an attractive
plaque made by Pat Daniels
and the decorations painted by
the late Kate Kadie who was a
member of the Garden Club.
