The Division of Wildlife will issue 292 rifle licenses and 72 archery licenses for Colorado residents. Eight archery and 34 rifle licens- es are available for out-of. state hunters. There are 29 archery and 62 rifle licenses avail- able for Colorado hunters of Rocky Mountain goat. Two archery and eight rifle licenses are available to out-of-state hunters. A license to hunt sheep or goat costs $100 for Colorado residents and $500 for out-of-state hunt- ers. License applications, included in the informa- tion brochure issued by the Division, must be post- marked or received at the Division no later than April 21. Successful applicants will be invited to a one- day orientation session to be held in July at a site to be determined. Applicants will be notified. Season dates vary ac- cording to the manage- ment unit. In most archery units, the season runs from August 15 through August 30 or from September 5 through October 6. Rifle seasons run from Septem- ber 5 through October 6 in most game units, with the season beginning August 15 on six others. Hunters and fishermen are reminded to purchase their 1987 licenses before heading into the field this year. The 1986 license expir- ed at midnight December 31 and are not valid for any portion of the 1987 season. New licences are avail- able at more than 1,000 license outlets throughout the state. License fees for fishing and the small game hunt- ing season still in effect re- main the same for 1987. Colorado residents pay $11 for a fishing license and $7.50 for a small game hunting license. Out-of-state fishing li- censes costs $35 and small game licenses $32.50. Turkey hunters can stalk their wiley prey from April 18 through May 17 this spring except in select- ed small game manage- ment Units, the Colorado Wildlife Commission decided January 9. The fall season will run from September 1 9 through October 4, with the exception of some small game management units. Turkey hunters must have a permit for the sea- son in which they hunt in addition to a valid turkey license. The unlimited per- mits, for both the spring and fall seasons, are avail- able from Division of Wild- life offices. Limited permits for spring are required for the Lake Dorothey, Skaquay Reservoir and Colorado Springs state wildlife areas as well as for selected small ,game management units. Limited permit areas for the fall season include the Lake Dorothey, Span- ish Peaks and Skaquey Reservoir State Wildlife areas.
